Benchley/Weinberger Elementary School is part of the San Diego Unified School District. In 2010, AMSOLAR entered into a broad partnership with the District to provide parking lot and rooftop solar facilities capable of meeting 11% of the District’s power needs under a power purchase agreement.

Benchley/Weinberger Elementary is a "California Distinguished School" with a focus on achievement through communication. The school's curriculum focuses on interpersonal communication, global media communication and artistic alternative communication. Benchley/Weinberger offers specific learning opportunities for high achieving students in grades 3-5.

The 98 kW solar facility will be located across five rooftops on campus and will meet approximately 80% of the school’s electricity needs.
