Gage Elementary School is part of the San Diego Unified School District. In 2010, AMSOLAR entered into a broad partnership with the District to provide parking lot and rooftop solar facilities capable of meeting 11% of the District’s power needs under a power purchase agreement.
Gage Elementary is located in the San Carlos neighborhood of San Diego. The school serves 498 students in grades K-5. Gage Elementary is particularly focused on parent involvement in its school community. In addition, the school emphasizes physical fitness with their morning running program. During the 2009-10 school year, Gage students ran more than 31,505 miles with 38 students reaching 150 miles or more.
The 102 kW solar facility will be located across five rooftops on campus and will meet over 90% of the school’s electricity needs.
