Johnson Elementary School

Projects | Johnson Elementary School, 114 kW

Johnson Elementary School is part of the San Diego Unified School District. In 2010, AMSOLAR entered into a broad partnership with the District to provide parking lot and rooftop solar facilities capable of meeting 11% of the District’s power needs under a power purchase agreement.

Johnson Elementary is a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) magnet school serving approximately 360 students in Grades K-6. In 2006, NASA designated Johnson Elementary an Explorer School, where concepts of space exploration, technology, engineering, and real-world problem solving are integrated into the rigorous academic curriculum.

The 114 kW solar facility will be located on four rooftops across the campus and will meet over 70% of the school’s electricity needs.
