Projects | McDonald's Pacific Beach, California

AMSOLAR has been working with the McDonald’s Owner/Operator’s Association that represents the 120 McDonald’s restaurants in San Diego County. Through our partnership with Project M Worldwide, the owner and operator of 10 McDonald’s locations, and with cooperation from McDonald’s Corporation headquarters, AMSOLAR helped bring to life the first solar-powered McDonald’s in the United States.

The solar-powered McDonald’s located on Garnet Avenue in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego has two large parking lot mounted steel structures that shade customer cars, while powering the restaurant with the sun. The solar energy facility at McDonald’s Pacific Beach is owned, operated and maintained by AMSOLAR — and the solar power generated by the system is purchased by the owner of the McDonald’s. In addition, customers can use solar power to charge their electric vehicles, as an electric vehicle charging station attached to one of the steel structures allows customers to plug their electric vehicles in at the site.
